Managed Services

Managed IT services and co-managed infrastructure

Your network, help desk, security tools and cloud accounts are spread across several vendors, and your IT team spends more time chasing them than improving anything. Or you have no IT team at all, and every outage lands on whoever is nearest the router.

MoJo Tech Group is a vendor-agnostic technology advisor. We design managed IT solutions around your requirements using a network of over 400 vetted service providers, then stay on as your single point of contact. The provider you choose runs the service day to day. We keep them accountable.

Is managed IT right for you?

Who managed IT fits, and when

Managed IT services suit organizations that need dependable infrastructure but don't want to build and staff every function in-house. It usually fits when you:

  • have a small IT team, or none, and need help desk and monitoring coverage beyond office hours
  • have an internal team that wants to hand off routine monitoring and maintenance so they can focus on projects
  • run several sites, clouds and vendors, with no single view of who owns what
  • face compliance requirements and need firewall management, monitoring and incident response planning in place
  • want predictable monthly costs instead of large hardware purchases

It's usually a poorer fit when you already have a well-staffed IT department with mature tooling and one or two reliable vendors. A targeted service, such as managed cybersecurity or cloud management, may solve the real gap for less.

Who managed IT fits, and when

Too many vendors, no owner

Each system was bought separately, so every issue starts with working out whose problem it is. One point of contact ends that.

Problems found by users first

Without monitoring, you learn about failures when staff can't work. Proactive monitoring and maintenance catch issues earlier and reduce downtime.

A stretched internal team

Your people are stuck resetting passwords and patching servers. Co-managed support takes the routine work so they can focus on core business objectives.

Security and compliance pressure

Auditors, insurers and customers ask for firewall management, compliance monitoring and an incident response plan. We source providers who deliver them.

Cloud moves without a plan

Workloads are drifting into Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms with no migration plan, backup or recovery design behind them.

Capital spend you'd rather avoid

Converting capital expenditures into predictable monthly operating expenses gives you enterprise-grade technology without the up-front hardware bill.

Fully managed

The provider runs monitoring, help desk and maintenance for you. It suits organizations without an IT team, but you rely more heavily on the provider's processes.

Co-managed

Your team keeps strategy and key systems while the provider covers monitoring, after-hours support or specific functions. It keeps control in-house but needs clear lines of ownership.

Project-based

A provider handles a defined piece of work, such as a cloud migration or network refresh. It's lower commitment, but nobody is watching the systems once the project ends.

Fully managed, co-managed or project-based

Managed IT options and tradeoffs

There's no single right model. The choice depends on how much IT capacity you have in-house and how much control you want to keep.

When we compare options, we weigh more than price:

  • which systems and hours each provider covers, and what's excluded
  • how escalation works between your team and theirs
  • how easily you can scale capacity up or down as demand changes
  • contract length, exit terms and who owns the documentation

Our solution implementation process

How we assess and select managed IT providers

Requirements analysis

We assess your current infrastructure, vendors and future needs, and agree what the managed service has to cover.

Provider selection

We evaluate managed service providers from our network against those requirements and present a shortlist with the tradeoffs laid out.

Implementation planning

We build a roadmap for bringing the new service in, including handover of systems, access and documentation.

Transition support

We give expert guidance throughout implementation and coordinate the provider, your team and any outgoing vendor.

Ongoing optimization

We hold regular reviews and adjust services as your business changes.

Know what you need before you talk to providers.

Tell us about your environment and we'll scope the assessment with you. An advisor will follow up to agree what's in scope and what we need from your team.

After go-live

Who owns your IT after go-live

Managed IT doesn't end when the contract is signed. Ownership has to be clear for as long as the service runs, so we set it out at the start:

  • The provider delivers the service: monitoring, NOC, help desk, maintenance and the security functions you've chosen.
  • Your team keeps the decisions that belong to the business, plus whatever systems you've chosen to run yourselves in a co-managed model.
  • MoJo stays as your single point of contact, offloading provider management and system optimization from your team, escalating when service slips, and reviewing the service with you.

Regular reviews look at how the service is performing, what has changed in your business, and whether you're still paying for the right things. If a provider stops fitting, we help you plan the move.

Common questions

Managed IT questions, answered

What's the difference between managed and co-managed IT?

With fully managed IT, a provider runs your monitoring, help desk and maintenance end to end. With co-managed IT, your internal team keeps strategy and some systems, and the provider fills specific gaps such as after-hours monitoring or help desk overflow. We help you decide which model fits your team, then select providers that work well in it.

Does MoJo run the help desk itself?

No. The managed service provider you select delivers the help desk, monitoring and maintenance. MoJo designs the solution, runs the provider selection, coordinates the transition and stays as your single point of contact afterwards. When something isn't working, you call us and we hold the provider to what was agreed.

What does MoJo's advice cost?

Our advisory service carries zero fees to you. We're compensated by the providers you select, without raising your rates. You pay the provider for the managed service itself, and we help you compare those costs across providers before you commit. Our pricing page explains the model in more detail.

Can we keep some of our current vendors?

Yes. The assessment looks at what you already have, and some vendors may stay if they serve you well. In a co-managed model, your team can keep the systems it wants to own. We plan the handover so nothing falls between the old and new arrangements.

How long does a transition take?

It depends on scope: the number of sites, users and systems, and how much documentation already exists. We agree a timeline during implementation planning, before anything changes, and coordinate the provider, your team and any outgoing vendor through transition support. Ask for a scoped assessment and we'll give you a realistic plan for your environment.

Do you work with businesses outside your listed locations?

Yes. We're based in Arlington, VA and Chicago, IL, serving clients nationwide. If you'd like an advisor who knows your local market, see our locations hub or the pages for DC Metro, Chicago, Atlanta managed IT services and Myrtle Beach.
